Free Medical Clinic - District Okhaldhunga - Sherpa Land
Ladies and gentlemen, dear friends,
we would like to inform you about our activities for 2020 in the Nepal Himalayas.
Since 2006 we have been supporting children and young people in mountainous regions of the Nepal Himalayas. The ethnic group of Sherpas and Tamang lives there.
The children live with their parents and relatives in remote areas on around 3000 m, where there is NO medical care, neither a hospital nor a doctor's practice.
In case of an emergency the sick person has to be driven to Kathmandu or to the district capital Okhaldhunga. The people are on the road for a few days to bring the patient to where medical care can be provided.
Our medical team:
- Western medicine:
- 1 western doctor, nurse,
- 1 translator and 2 assistants
- Tibetan Himalayan medicine:
- 1 Amchi (Tibetan doctor),
- 2 Amchi assistant (Sowa Rigpa consultant),
- 2 translators and
- 2 helpers
The patients are treated in a specific place, located at 3800m altitude. The medical team is on the road for a few days to get there from Kathmandu. The equipment such as medicine, bandages, food supplements etc. is brought there by mountain guides, porters and mules. In addition, tents, kitchen and food for the medical team and the accompanying team. The Nepal Himalaya Shepra Foundation in Kathmandu - Nepal is the patron and organizer of the Free Medicine Camp.
5000 Euro are needed. We kindly ask you to support us. Every Euro counts for us and we are very happy about it.
